That was a sweet live rendition.

| | | | The general consensus is that he sucks an he goes out of his way to get an awful sound.
I think his pinky slap thing is interesting and it's something I haven't been able to master myself. I dig korns early work, and to me his 'super scooped' tone works fine for the band's sound. Granted, it won't work in almost any other setting, but still. I don't think he's that bad.

| | | | He's playing music for a living and got rich doing it. Can't knock that.
I really respect him for getting his life on track. Takes a lot of courage to admit that you're going to crash and burn unless you change your ways. I know people my age who still think the party hasn't ended. |

As far as his technical chops go, check this live video of BBK: YouTube - ‪KoRn BBK live at BDO (old school korn!)‬‏
Anyone know what rig he's using these days? He used to play through 4 Mesa Basis M2000s and an array of Mesa cabs.

I'm not going to criticize someone who has developed a unique style and had great success.

I got into bass for that deep "thump" and 95% of Fieldy's lines give me anything but that...still an interesting guy, read his book...some of the music I do like, but not the person i'm going to model my playing after. |

Bass usually sits between the drums and guitars, riding the drums... this guy is between the drums and ??? Can't knock him for making good in the industry, but not a huge fan of his style or tone.
Ampeg site has him with a hoopty full of PR410HLFs but lists him using the 810E.
(Note to self: sell PR410HLF)

| | | | When I started bass, I really like his style. You could ear him and not just do "boom boom boom" like too many VH1 music. |

I always got the feeling he never practiced either as he never seemed to really improve. Supposedly hes starting a new band that claims to be "stoner rock" (in the last Revolver I read) but hes playing guitar. I'd be really curious to hear him with another band. |

That was a sweet live rendition. | I got to. It was one of the worst concerts I've ever seen, and I've seen A LOT! Zombie played with them and absolutely killed it. Korn was just aweful.
Just last year they played in my town. I made no effort to go see them a second time.

how i wish to find myself in a situation like that lol - a lot of ppl hate my style too lol, so i kinda know how it feels like (minus the "being well known and succesful" part) | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
