My friend played me a few songs from this band and I was fairly impressed with the bass lines. From the couple songs that I heard the bass is the main instrument and I didn't hear any guitar. He told me that the songs that he played me came out several years ago already. I was just wondering if anyone knows much about the bassist of this band , and if anyone else thinks that the band has some interesting , but decent music?? Thanks.

My only exposure (with none since) was that my old punk rock band ended up on a bill with them in the 90's. Prior to that I had only heard about them in passing. But as a band they were pretty cool, the bass player was friggin' amazing. he did two handed technique as his default style and also sang on top of these mind boggling lines. I recalled that they also had somebody on exotic wind instruments like the digeridoo, pretty much over the head of the audience but I dug it. They were more atmospheric, moody and with pretty unique rhythms and textures. I recall the bass player was a pretty cool guy and gave kudos to us who were (in all honesty) pretty unspectacular.

They were from san diego and were involved in other punk-ish bands from there as well. I think they ended up on touch and go records later.

Thanks for reminding me, now I have to goggle them.

No problem on the reminder

They are definitely a unique band from what I heard , but I liked them. I'm normally not a big punk guy , but there are a few punk bands that I like. Are they classified as Punk?? I appreciate bands that go for their own unique sound (In most cases). I'm pretty out of touch with obscure bands since I moved out of Milwaukee to the Northwoods of Wisconsin 20 years ago. I'm gonna try to find a CD of theirs next time I get to music store to check out some more of their music.
That's pretty cool that you were on the same bill with them and that the bassist was a pretty cool guy.
