Oh boy..

They are al perfect bassists for their genre, and the music they make.

Its like comparing apples, oranges... and carrots.

You know, J. Crawford, for a young guy, you've got it together. Way too many 'who's better' threads.

Crawford has the right frame of mind. They are from differing genres of music and playing styles. No way to compare.

And why just those three?

I love all three, but I'm pretty sure the vast majority of people here will say Geddy. I might agree, but I'm a huge RATM fan, so Tim's my favorite.

Not that it means he's the most technically sound... he's probably the least flashy of the three, but his tone is what really sets him apart, IMO. He's what inspired me to play bass in the first place.

Flea is quite a character in his own right, but he gets hated on alot by some around here, being called sloppy by some, but he plays funky bass in a rock band, so I give him credit for helping fuse funk and rock in a modern setting (although, since the turn of the century, RHCP has just gotten kinda boring IMO).

Geddy has one thing over all of them though, and that's nearly 4 decades of relevance. He's still reveared as one of the greats, and it's because of his chops, songwriting, and his sought-after tone... AND he sings and plays keyboards.

OK, I'll play because I'm bored:

Skill:
1.) Geddy
2.) Flea
3.) Tim

Has a style I like:
1.) Flea
2.) Tim
3.) Geddy

Is a cool guy judging from what I've read (never met any of them):
1.) Geddy
...
9.) Flea
10.) Tim
