Tim Commorford is so underrated.

He's great, but I never hear anything about him. I mean, what bassist doesn't know (or at least heard) Killing in the Name of?

His playing is sloppy, that's what I like about it.

Commerford was getting plenty of attention while he was more active, but after his bands all closed up shop, there wasn't much more to say about him.

Plus, he got onto a lot of spit lists here by asserting in BP that Geddy Lee was copying him by using tones that most of us know Geddy was using before Commerford was born.

I think Rage and Tim get a lot of love on this board. I liked him back in the 90s and I still like the lines but I guess I've just moved on.

No, he's just past his prime and irrelevant to those who don't care for RATM and Audioslave. He's a good bassist and in his day was gracing the covers of magazines and all that. But underrated? Not at all.

He is a great bass artist in the style that he plays, but he is not a great utility bass player like say Marcus Miller or Will Lee. He is certainly not underrated.

Wow. That's kind of funny considering I read somewhere that he learned to play bass listening to Rush CDs over and over when he was a teenager.

Hah! That's pretty funny. I'm not sure how anyone could get the two mixed up anyway, they have pretty distinct styles.

yeah, dude was obviously joking. When Audioslave were interviewed on Muchmusic (Canadian MTV), Tim said that Geddy was the reason he started playing bass. He also spoke highly of Rush and Geddy in 'Beyond the Lighted Stage'.

What is Commerford up to these days though? I think him and Wilk are one of the best rhythm sections ever, love to see them do something else.

He's not quite that young. Tim was born when Gary was still learning Jack Bruce's lines in '68.

Does anyone know if Tim.com does anything musical outside of playing the same old RATM tunes from more than 10 years ago?

I know that Simmerin' T contributed some tracks to the "V" Is for Vagina album by Puscifer. Other than that, I don't think he did much else.

I am loving hard on Timmy C. today. "Testify"? AYFKM? That is what music sounds like.

I am a broke-ass Timmy C.* and am damn proud of it.

* When I'm not playing in my country band.

Yeah, accusing Geddy of stealing anything (if that's true) is kind of sad.

There's at least one thread a month started here on how to get his tone, he must've done something right... I only realized who Tim was after I started listening to audioslave. I wasn't a big RATM fan but I do really like Chris Cornell, so that got me listening to Tim.
