If anyone on here was a fan of the band Kudzu Wish, it is with a heavy heart that I share this news with you. Tim Lafollette, a founding member, bass player, & high school classmate of mine, has passed away after a 5+ year battle with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease.
He was an amazing person, musician, & activist who spent much of his struggle raising awareness of this horrible disease. He & his wife completed a music project shortly before he was no longer able to manage without breathing assistance, and I highly recommend any fans of bands like the Refused, Hot Water Music, & other late nineties/early aughts punk, hardcore, & emo (not the ****** kind you've heard on the radio over the last decade) to check out Kudzu Wish. You may just discover your new favorite band.
Tim was a smart, funny, & creative person who was as kind as he was weird. A truly unique & awesome person who took this horrible fate & did his best to be valiant & make as much of a difference in this world, before he exited.
So many people die from abusing their bodies, wasting their spirit, or self destructing. I'm reminded that there is nothing guaranteed in this life. Doing your best can easily not be enough. Yet even as I type this, however, it is Tim's voice in my head, telling me that's ********. It matters how you live, how you treat people, & how you spend your time. It doesn't matter what anyone thinks of you, what obstacles lie in your path, or really anything else. We are our own standard bearers, in music, in life, & beyond.
Rest in Peace, Tim. |
