Majorly talented dude. I'm surprised his name doesn't come up more often around here, especially in the "singing bass players" threads.

It's originally a Henley song, not an Eagles song, and the bassist that did the original played fretless. My guess is that Timothy B. Schmidt is just trying to sound similar. Great playing either way, though.

Pino Palladino played fretless on the original recording for Don. TBS does a fantastic job of emulating Pino's bass work in this 1994 "Hell Freezes Over" version, and I actually prefer TBS's version since the bass comes through clearer than the original recording. I also have the 2004 Melbourne DVD that shows TBS playing a Pedulla Buzz fretless for this song.

TBS rocks! Plus, he grew up in my town! (Sacto)

One thing I noticed about TBS when he is playing fretless versus fretted. When playing fretted, he doesn't look at the neck much, and is a bit more relaxed. But when he is playing fretless, he is very focused and more serious as he makes sure his intonation is right on the money.

He's played Carvin basses for some time... I seem to remember him having a signature model at some point.
