I just listened to some early Talking Heads for the first time in years, certainly since before i switched to bass, and realised how much my playing was influenced by her. Anyone else here a fan?

Totally agree....I'm a huge fan, and I'm always trying to get her sound out of my setup. She's not flashy, but she has an amazing groove. "(Nothing But) Flowers" is a great example of how subtle and groovy she can get.

Very solid player, a great example of doing the perfect job for the style of music she plays. She's always impressed me with her groove ...

I read an interview years ago about the formation of the Talking Heads and she didn't even play bass at the time, but was the drummer's girlfriend and they couldn't find a bass player so drafted her for the job.

One of the best "play for the song" bass players out there.

She is one of my main influences on bass. Her stuff sounds simple but fits in perfectly and drives the songs. There are some great clips from the band live in 1980 just after Remain In Light came out. Fantastic band with two great bassists , Busta "Cherry" Jones and Tina. You can see Tina shakin her hips alot lol.

After reading this thread I went on You tube and watched all the Talking Heads videos. I loved the way Tina played the bass, it was awesome. The bass line on "Wild, Wild, Life" was so tight and fantastic I had to pick up my bass and just start noodling around.

Tina was a big influence on my playing. Her style is a great example of ego-less, grooving, play-for-the-song bass playing.

I like her work with Tom Tom Club, too (except for her singing....)

One more Tina fan checking in.

I love her simple yet effective grooves with a great sense of feel. Great rhythm section in general (I'm sure being a married couple might have had something to do with that)

She totally gets it. The heads were my fave in their time and my band is now working on our own Psycho Killer.....I loooove playing our own take on a 5er so I can go down a fifth from the A, G and F!

True that... strangely hawt.

Anyways, I love Tina. Her technique is pretty neat, and I love how she grooves. "Making Flippy Floppy" makes my... well, just look at the song name and you can fill in the rest.

Nice player. Love the groove in "Life During Wartime". My band just started covering that song. Groove-fest.
