Was on a Talking Heads kick last night, and the number one thing that jumped out at me was, of course, Tina Weymouth. She has to be one of the most severely underrated bassists of all time. I fall prey to forgetting about her whenever there's talk of who your favorite players are, and on the Bassists With Greatest Stage Presence thread it struck me a day later how amazing her stage presence is. When I watch Stop Making Sense, the biggest things I take away from it are: 1) how engaging a performer David Byrne is, 2) how Tina seems to be having the time of her life on each and every song bouncing around while playing some sick grooves

, 3) how crazy Bernie Worrell is on keys. Plus I so want the Heads to regroup somehow. I know it's not going to happen, but I'd definitely shell out a hundred bucks easily to see them. But anyway, back to Tina: her playing is completely in the pocket and uses what sounds like simple lines, but her timing floors me. Anybody else a big fan of Mrs. Frantz? (Which reminds me: that has to be literally the tightest rhythm section ever with her and hubby Chris Frantz!)
