I saw the Get Thrashed documentary at the Seattle Film Festival last saturday and there he was, bustin' out what looked like three finger-action during the fast break in Raining Blood after he yells "NOW I SHALL REIGN IN BLOOD!"
So yeah, just mentioning that. I found it interesting....the documentary is highly reccomended, by the by. |

Back then his voice was alot higher too. Not sure why he switched to picks. Maybe just to throw them into the crowds. |

Thrash metal has a lot of standout bassists- Steve Digiorgio, DD Verni, Greg Christian, uh...Cliff Burton?? Blacky, Frank Bello, Ron Royce, Ralph Hubert...etc. |

| | | | I like some of Slayer's stuff, and i know who Tom Arya is, but i haven't even noticed his lines. That's still pretty sick that a thrash metalist used to use fingers.

I think it's just reminiscent of the mindset of 1980's metal producers who thought bass shouldn't be up in the mix. Listen to any '80s metal album, the bass is always buried under distorted guitars and bass drums

That's some classic metal, all their greatest records are from the '80s. That's only one of example of why your statement is a bad generalization. |
