I have been spinning that double-live Weckl CD seemingly non-stop for the past week. Kennedy has become one of my very faves, - he lays down some beautiful lines and his tone is to friggin' die for!

I mentioned on another thread that Tom Kennedy is on the faculty where I work. After so many of his students bragged on him, I picked up two Dave Weckl CDs and I am impressed! I still haven't got to meet him but I will sooner or later at some school music function.

I've heard (read) that he is a very nice guy and is quite approachable. If you meet him, let us know how it went...

I'm going to Weckl on Sunday night and I'm going to try and meet him. He's a killer player. I think he plays on most of Weckl's solo stuff so grab it all up.

Good call, Jacquo. I just searched and found it on Amazon
if anyone is interested. There are sound clips on there.

...got that one, too.

IIRC, much of it is in a Post Bop/Latin vibe.

On one of those Weckl discs(IIRC, it has a blue cover), there's a rough live recording(almost garage-like) of the band where Kennedy is takin' no prisoners.
"Swunk" is a very cool blend of Swing + Funk...that one's on Synergy.

I first heard Tom Kennedy on the Bill Connors albums. Yes, albums made of vinyl.

Back in 1997 I was Lighting Director for Al DiMeola on the Europe and So. American tours ... Tom Kennedy was the bass player.

He is a VERY nice person and certainly approachable. He was my favorite person of the entourage to hang with. Aside from his awesome talent, he is truelly a genuine "nice guy".

If you meet him, you will know what I mean.

It's called "Transition Jam" from Rhythm Of The Soul. Check it out.

Yup, got it. I have all the Dave Weckl cd's except for this double live joint! On Tom's cd, the last song, "OLEO", is just Tom and Dave just going off something fierce!! I'll post it so the folks here can have a listen.
