I just can't listen to "chops" super-groups anymore.

I just don't know about Dave Weckl...

I just can't listen to "chops" super-groups anymore. | Exactly how I feel. You can't fault the playing, technically, but at times it's just a blur. I'm sure some people, especially musicians, can enjoy that sort of thing, but I didn't find it very appealing to the ears, or the way I perceive 'funk'. Plus I've never liked that sort of tone, which is one of the reasons I never completely 'got' Jaco. |

I agree, the bass solo did lack some feeling, but I'd rather take his playing over mine any day (his tone too).

The real video has a build up to the wankfest on bass. Quite musical, actually. |

| | | ehh... that was kind of funky, definitely more of that "music for musicians". not nearly funky enough to compete with this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tb8L8lH030A. the clothes alone put weckl's sense of funk to shame. they do kind of rush through the song though, but cocaine will do it to you. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
