"The guy from Queensryche". I love it. Didn't even bother to google it before starting the thread :P.
I'd have to think about it... but I'm pretty sure the question is too vague for me to answer.

Edit:
I'll say this:
1) J Bass
2) P Bass
3) Stingray/Sterling

Just killing time dude, lighten up. Googling crap like that on my phone sucks. It's not vague, it's just a more positive twist to the recent thread in which people berated various bassist's tone one a recording.

Was Roll The Bones on a 5 string Wal? If it was or wasn't, still a good choice.

Ged on anything, really. My number one for tone.
Marcus Miller, especially with SMV. My favorite slap tone.
I don't have a 3rd.

Thank you! That sounded a little wacky to me too. I was starting to think this was like Scientology or something

Top 3? By what criteria? There are a lot of gifted bassists out there. Why do you want to exclude all but three?

I think he means 'top 3 in your opinion'.
Far too subjective a subject for any other interpretation (in my opinion).

I'll play:
My favorites (the order really depends on my mood at the time)
1)Geddy on Limelight
2)Tony Levin on absolutely anything he played on
3)Tom Petersson on Gonna Raise Hell

How's that for variety?

2. Les Claypool ( his fretless skill and most anything N.I.B)
3. Al Cisneros (ANYTIME!)

2. Macca on Abbey Road
3. Cliff Burton (When you can hear him ) on Master of Puppets

Mike Dirnt-Anything off 'smoothed out slappy hours', 'dookie' or 'nimrod'
Krist Novoselic-Anything off 'From the muddy banks of the Wiskah'
Mark Hoppus- Anything off 'Dude Ranch'

Maybe not the best 3 (especially the 3rd) but those are all I can think of at the moment.
