being a brit myself i find it quite a tough to call 5 top players as there different ways to judge them. i mean, theres a difference between the technical noodlers, the innovative players and the grooving, feel-good players.

The British players that have inspired me or had an influence on my playing has to be.

1. Stuart Zender.
2. Mark King.
3. Mani. (Stone Roses, Primal Scream, FreeBass)
4. Roly Wynne. (Ozric Tentacles)
5. Paul Blackburn. (Gomez)

others that deserve a mention are great players such as Janek Gwizdala, Pino Palladino, Squarepusher, Yolanda Charles, Randy Hope-Taylor, Andrew Levy, Chris Squire, Chris Wolstenholme, Damon Minchella, Paul Turner and the big rock names,John Entwhistle, Jack Bruce, Paul McCartney, Roger Waters.

That's a nice group! How could I even forget about Peter Hook and Simon Gallup, which are some of my most favored bass players of all time!
