Oh GOD my brain. Maybe not all English, but from the Isles let's say. Well, there's
Colin Moulding - XTC
Percy Jones - Brand X etc.
Colin Hodgkinson - Back Door
Jack Bruce - Cream etc.
Ronnie Wood - Jeff Beck, Rod Stewart, Rolling Stones

Whew! That wasn't so easy now, was it?

I go along with gjbassist perfectly for his top four only, but the order changes. Lately I have grown to respect Paul McCartney a whole lot more than I used to. I tried to master the Beatles song book. He kicks my butt, not that it is a big deal to do that. I would move him to #2 behind John Entwistle, John Paul Jones tied for #3 with Jack, because Jack played that short scale EB like a lead guitar.

Paul McCartney? Seriously? Why? I really don't get it.

I don't think he is a dynamic or flamboyant player. I'm not a Beatles fan anyway which is why my favourite Beatle is whichever one died first.

I think I might be first to mention on TB - the mighty Paddy Steer of Yargo.

For the record, I'd love to add more but I'll submit my other 4 'British' players as:
JJ Burnel (YES, born in London)
Jah Wobble
Horace Panter
John Entwistle

A couple that I've only seen mentioned once are:

John McVie
Chas Chandler

And a couple I haven't seen at all:

Gary Thain of Uriah Heep.
Alan Lancaster of Status Quo.
