Cheers,

But in all seriousness Dave Ellefson from Megadeth uses a pick, and he ain't a bad bassist.

Ellefson is a master...I defy most finger players to master 'my last words' with the bite and sharpness that he gets on that song.
But to the OP, Rob Wright from NoNeansNo takes some beating... |

He is a tremendously gifted bassist, but overshowed in the band by a nutter for a singer, an octopus on steroids behind the kit, and 2 equally insane guitarists. Fantastic band. |

| | | This thread showcases artists across a wide variety of genres, talents and bass sounds, encompassing bass players from every walk of life and of every skill level from the 50's through today and into the next generation. There are probably enough pro bassists using a pick to say that it's just as popular a playing method as using fingers, or at least in that same league.
It's weird, ya know? It's almost like it's a LEGITIMATE and VALID way of playing a bass guitar or something... I almost feel like we should ACCEPT pick players and allow for the possibility of their being considered great and even teach younger players how to play with a pick....
Crazy, right? What am I thinking? What I meant to say was "P1ckSTYLE SUXXX!!!11!"

| | | | I think Krist Novoselic is outstanding. He's a great bassist. He could keep a line interesting while still being grounded in the context of a rock song. Never forget "Lounge Act"
