Hello all, I am trying to get a tone similar to Ryan from Mudvayne, more specifically the song "Internal Primates Forever"from L.D.50 and "IMN" from Lost and Found for a couple of covers.
My gear is Warwick Corvette $$ 5 string through a GK 1001RB2 with 4x10SBX and 1x15SBX cabs. I figure I should be able to get pretty close with this setup but I can't seem to ever get it. Mostly the higher notes he plays, doesn't seem to have that clarity or edge he gets. Or the well defined chunk of the B-string for that matter...
Any help is appreciated.
Forgive me if this is the wrong place to ask... |

I personally use these and love them! I would maybe suggest Dean Markley Blue Steels but to be honest I dont know if they would hold up with that kind of playing style.

I am quite happy with my rig when I am playing our own music. I was just hoping for some amp/bass setting tweaks to help push me in the right direction toward Ryan's sound.
GrindYourMind: thanks for the single coil suggestion. I can't believe I overlooked something so simple. It definitely helped. |

(tone is in the fingers right?) |

| | | | Practice a lot.
That dude has some chops.
You can have the same exact rig as the artist you dig and never sound like him unless you really get into the technique that guy is doing.
Believe me, I've chased a couple tones. |
