I read in ann old Bass Player that he uses Swr stuff but also puts the bass through a Marshall guitar head for top end. Don't know why, he's hardly going for an Entwistle/Squire/Pinnick vibe is he?

I don't know why he would be using a guitar head for top end...his tone is very warm and deep...who knows.

I wonder what's happened to ol' Tye? Seems AAF have disappeared, so I wonder what he's doing now?

I was wondering that same thing the other day! They had a sense of humor about themselves and Tye was great.....fickle music business.

That's what happens when the whole marketing push for your band is based on a nostalgia 80's cover trip.

talented or not, they were doomed from the get-go.

Good bassplayer, but AAF seem to have vanished (although they had some nice songs)

This is his rig behind me and my GK rig- 2 SWR Bass 750 X's, 2 Megoliaths. He had no Marshall, the one on stage belongs to our singer.

Seems like its a little difficult to find exactly what his set up is since he is not that popular..
AAF just playedwith a bunch of bands in Detroit at a show called "The Night 89X stole Christmas", it goes on every year and features many bands...this year they had 311, Coheed & Cambria, Our Lady Peace and of course Alient Ant Farm..there were others too that do not come to mind at this moment.

Cantstandsya - so you played a show with AAF? Tell us about your experience man.

The custom made Fender Tye usues is very badass!

I agree Tye's tone is lush, and his playing is excellent..

I just saw them open for 311 two weeks ago.

Edit: regarding his rig, that show had the worst concert sound I have ever heard. I did not hear a note of the bass, just a buzzy mush. He was really entertaining to watch, and he was all over the bass, but what it sounded like, I have no notion. Sound for 311 was much better, though not great.

I just can't figure out, with the quality of the equipment available, why live sound is worse than it has ever been...

One of the bands that I play in(Greenbrier Lane) opened up for them at the Bank Of The West Beach Games last year.We got little spot on a Fox Sports Net show called Fusion TV that showed us playing and a little interview. He was playing his custom Fender and SWR rig.I didn't really talk to him but I spoke with the drummer a little bit and he was pretty cool.Their downfall was the tour bus accident that almost killed their singer. You can still see the scars on his neck from the neck brace/halo type thing they had on him.Anyways, they sounded really good but didn't seem to have too much of a following there to see them...........

IIRC, Doesn't he play a fretless bass solo on one of their songs? Or am I mistaken? If in fact it was him, I'd have to say that it was a beautiful solo without being overly flashing.
