- - UMO Bassist

Hey everyone, I'm relatively new here (I say relatively because I've spent years leeching advice from this forum before working up the nerve to join) and I was curious if anyone could hook me up with some information about the bassist from the Unknown Mortal Orchestra. His tone always impresses me, specifically in the song "Secret Xtians". I've always leaned more towards the J Bass Jaco tone side, but this man has made me a new believer in LOW. If anyone could provide some specifics on what he uses (or even some helpful hints) I'd greatly appreciate it. Plus, it would ease the mild nervousness that my newbie status around here has caused.
Oh.... and here's the song for those of you who may not be familiar with it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1QZbtoPuUI

Bump on this! He uses a musicmaster bass 78' (probably modified) and a Gibson eb-0 of some sort. Not sure what he uses on the records though. I myself would like to know what pedals he uses

Thanks guys! Sorry I dropped off the earth (school and such). I'll definitely look into some of that gear. And I agree, I'd like to see his pedal board. Their guitarist posts pics of his all the time and it's nuts.

Sounds a little like a synth. Cool tone!

I'm neighbors with Ruban the singer/guitar player and yes, it's a modded musicmaster. They actually do a lot of custom mods themselves and make their own pedals. Very authentic vibe and tones.
