in your opinion who is the most underrated and over rated bassist? My opinion is that victor damiani is the most underrated, (the man can groove like nobodys business) and I can't think of the most overrated, ill get back to you when I figure it out. |

| | | | Keith Jones is very underrated. Check his stuff out w/ Andy Narell (Slow Motion, the Hammer, Long Time Band) His TONE is un-paralleled, groove is deep, and his phrasing is amazing! You can also check him out early on with Flora/Airto, Jean Luc-Ponty, Wayne Shorter and Santana... |

I think anything he plays would turn to gold. But i try to judge a bass player by what they bring to a band. I think a great bass player makes the music and people around him better (jamerson). But Jaco from what i have seen is just the whole show with every one else trying to support him.

| | | | With Jaco, you have to get away from the typical solo work and look deeper at his playing and rememeber that 10,000 bass players we compare him with after him would not be doing what he did. Also, I am not a Hartke fan personally but I met Mr. Hartke himself at a music store in NYC and he explained to me the developement of his speakers were on a request from Jaco. I am not personally an aluminum speaker fan but that is another way to show how Jaco affected the music industry for the rest of time. |
