I was on the subject of Pino today, and a thought struck my mind. A very underrated bassist, Chris Wood. This cat can jam man! His fills are very Pino- like. I dont know if this has been posted, but he is truelly an amazing player. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rgyHqJ4U1UE

Personally, the organ groove stuff gets to me after about 3 tunes...don't forget about MMW's acoustic Jazz-oriented stuff (like Notes From The Underground).

I just ordered a album by the Jazz Composers Alliance Orchestra...& Medeski is on that, too.
MMW are very cool, versatile & inside/outside players.

Im really influenced by him!" Not too many. No disrespect to Flea or Geddy, etc. but guys like this sure can groove for all the respect they get all around.

a lot actually... I know quite a few URB players that name him as part of the reason they play URB (myself included) |
