Unlikely Sources of Awesome Bass Parts

I listen to a lot of alternative/electronic stuff in addition to funk, rock, blues, etc. I've found a lot of great bass lines, bass players, and synth bass parts in unlikely places. Just about all of these guys are European. I'm a college student so a lot of this stuff is relative to my environment. Point being, it may be a unique perspective for some people here.

Here's what I've got, how about you guys?

The Whitest Boy Alive, based out of Germany, kind of disco pop/jam session music. Check out High on the Heels and 24k.

High on the Heels - Best quality I could find, here

Alphabeat, Danish pop band. Check out "Go Go" AMAZING bass line, love it.

Go Go - here

Daftpunk, not actually played on the bass, but Around the World gets really funky around 2 minutes into the song. Around the World seems to be a popular name for great bass parts...

Around the World - here. Warning, trippy video! Gets funky around 1:50.

Datarock, Norwegian electronic pop. Check out Fa-Fa-Fa. Very very catchy and fun to play.

Fa-Fa-Fa - here. Again, trippy video warning.

Franz Ferdinand, Scottish rock band. I actually really like their bassist. Their new album has a much more electronic/dance feel to it, and it seems like the bass player stepped up his game here. No You Girls has a great bass line, really makes the song.

No You Girls - here

The Virgins, American rock band. Check out Rich Girls. Very funky!

Rich Girls - here

Justice, French electric/dance duo. We Are Your Friends translates well to an actual bass, although the actual song just plays samples.

We Are Your Friends - here

And there's a lot more where that came from.

I look forward to listening to the bass parts you guys find in random places.

This tune has a great synth bass part, written by producer/arranger Richard Niles:

Keeping with the 80's synth-pop theme:

Madonna's "Borderline"

Jane Child's "Don't Wanna Fall in Love" - this link is a remix of the original, but still has the bass part
