Two bassists that I love that never get any recognition are Skid of "Love/Hate" and Dennis Dunaway from the original "Alice Cooper" Band.

Who are your favorite unsung bass heroes? | Funny - as soon as I opened this post "Love Hate Love" by Alice in Chains was on my Media Player - and I was about to post Mike Starr and Mike Inez of Alice in Chains...just crazy!

| | | | Mike Rutherford.
Old Genesis records from the early-mid 70s have some KILLER bass playing.
Also Dan Roberts from Crash Test Dummies. Remarkably good bass throughout God Shuffled His Feet. |

| | | | Jack Casady - he's one of Anthony Jackson's heroes and pioneered countless techniques used by rock bassists
Randy Jackson - American Idol aside, the man can play
Jon Camp - took Squire's sound and propelled Renaissance w/Annie Haslam
Andy Fraser - the backbone of Free; his melodic choices in phrasing made Free sound huge behind Paul Kossoff's solos
Carl Radle - Played on some of the best 70's work of Clapton & Harrison including "Layla" and "All Things Must Pass"
Nick Lowe - Rockpile was one of the tightest post new wave bands because of Lowe & Terry Williams' ESP. |
