Uriah Duffy is da man

Hi,

Credit is long overdue for this ripper...
I just want to tell everyone that i think Uriah Duffy is one of those rare freaks of nature who can do it all with 4 or 5 strings in his hand, and there isn't much said about him here at Talkbass. He can lay down old school grooves in the pocket without going overboard, shred when required like a motha with such a unique and at times classical influenced style without sounding like one of those virtuostic shredders that non-one listens to, and thump that double thumb like it's on fire and it needs to be put out. His playing is a perfect mixture of beauty, style, groove and originality that i can get out of my mind right now. Check these out...

have run into him numerous times here in San Rafael & surrounding small clubs in the area

even tho he has a high profile gig with Whitesnake, he still sits in on gigs with locals here in the area when he's not off touring the world

MONSTER player

I never knew who he was until I saw him hanging out at BPL last year. I saw him again last year at the NAMM show. I really love his feel. He is a great player with a heavy heavy groove no matter what style he's playing.

Thanks for posting! He deserves the attention

If I had top choose to meet only one bass player it would probably this guy. I totally agree that he's an insanely versatile musician and amazing bassist. From his videos it seems like he'd be a real fun dude to hang with too. He pretty much inspired me to pick up both a Sandberg and a Jazz bass, both in the past month-ish (when I just found out who he was) and they're the only two basses I have .

...Just saw that he posted in this thread! How does it feel to have a thread pretty much dedicated to how cool you are, lol ?

What a versatile cat. We could all take notes from this guy. No need to wrap ourselves up in one genre and call it a wrap! He is the Nathan East of the new generation! Plays it all and sings too!

I'm enjoying Uriah's pedal demo's on Youtube, but I can't find a picture of his current pedalboard anywhere. Anyone know where I can find one?

Uriah is one of my favorite bass players. He plays the right thing with tons of taste and major groove.

He also has technique to do pretty much everything.

I'd like to see him play modern gospel

He's one of those players that i could listen to for days... Wish he'd do some sort of DVD. The few times I've emailed him he was always super cool in responding. Cant wait to actually see him play live and possibly meet him one day...

Awesome player!!!!
