I am saddended to learn that Michael Anthony is no longer with VH. I know this is old news, but what gives? Anthony is a solid, respectable bassist. His lines never get in the way. He provides the foundation of VH. His lines are tasteful and clever, unlike many of contemporaries, such as Billy Sheehan, IMO... this is a travesty. |

His name disappeared from the writing credits of songs that appeared on soundtracks. Eddie wanted to use a hired hand bass player for the "Reunion" tour with Sammy, but Sam insisted on Mike being onboard. He was a hired hand on that tour, not a full member. This is all long before the recent tour with Wolfgang.
Mike is NOT in Sammy's current band. He has his own. |

Billy Sheehan blows Anthony right off the stage it's not even funny.

What's the name of MA's current band?

What's the name of MA's current band? | Mad Anthony express. He TOURS with Sammy.
Also look what I found on Wikipedia. I had heard about this but it slipped my mind: Quote: |
Anthony is currently developing a side project called "Chickenfoot" with Sammy Hagar, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith and guitarist Joe Satriani, which will include a yet unnamed studio album release.

I don't really follow either so, I am probably mistaken. |

I couldn't help thinking though during the concert, 'I waited ALL THIS TIME to see Dave back in Van Halen & the ONE GUY who never caused any friction (Mike A) is the guy who is missing.

| | | | You know, the more I read and hear about EVH the more nauseated I feel. Let's face it, classic VH had some great songs... The Roth era was undeniable, sans that synthesizer crap like "Jump". But I'm talking most of their early, early stuff. Even some of the stuff w. Haggar is ok. But EVH's finger tapping, 1 trick pony style of playing is crap... he could never outclass guys like Eric Clapton and even Jimmy Page, who can't even keep his ax in tune half the time. EVH disgusts me, and he had better thank men like Anthony for helping to make his vision a reality, because quite frankly... without Sammy, Dave, and Mike... they suck. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
