Van Morrison's bassist?

I found a brief mention that Phil Chen worked with him. Has he been the constant bass player, or was he just a hired gun for a couple of albums?

I have a lot of Van Morrison albums but none with Phil Chen. Van always had great taste in bassist though, and I wouldn't be suprised if Phil played in his touring band. One of my favorite Morrison bass players is Steve Pearce, a wonderful player with awesome taste and groove....I should do a thread on him.

I wish I knew who the bassist was that I saw with him a few days ago.... very solid player... older guy playing some sort of Gibson/Guild type semi-hollow body with flats.... total fat, warm sound and wonderful feel and groove.

I found a listing on the current band (the US mini tour that started with an opening act performance for the Stones on Monday) that states that Nick Taylor is the bassist. Know anything about him? He seemed to serve as music director also.

Van must have had dozens of different bass players over the years - at least!!

David Hayes and Nicky Scott have probably been Van's more prominent players over the last few years.

I think someone else has taked over in the last couple of months.. I'm not sure who, though.

Nick Taylor wasn't in the touring band as of a couple of weeks ago... it's some other fella. It might be Paul Moore, but I'm not sure...?

Great link. Looks like John Klingberg and David Hayes are the major ones I'm looking for.
