Everybody I've talked to who's met him says he's really humble, and a great guy. Same way with Steve Bailey, coolest guy I ever met. From what I hear, Jaco was too, before he got all screwed up. It seems the greatest musicians are also the most humble.

What Jaco as in Jaco Pastorius ?.

He was a really nice person sure, but I don't think humble, he's quoted as annoucing to people that he was the best bassplayer on the planet, this is way before he played with Weather report.

He said that he was the best bass player ever after only playing for a year. At that point he really was.

First let me say I think Victor is just a real nice guy and true musician. I mean like us he feels he is still trying to find learn/find new ideas and sounds. Just he doesn't realize he is light years ahead of the rest of us.

Also I have never met Victor hope to some day, but I emailed him questions and got replies. Also the people around him are the same as Victor. Ant Wellington and Steve Bailey are equally willing to share their insights and knowledge.

Last does anyone know what that video is from, is it from a DVD that can be purchased???

I first heard of Jaco back in the 60's way before he ever got publicly known. There was talk floating around from guys who had playing in Wayne Cochran's band of this monster bass player with a weird name, Jaco Pastorius. One guy I met was a trumpet player who switched to bass after being in the C.C. Riders with Jaco and Jaco showed him some stuff to get going on bass.

Jaco may of been at worst premature in his statement, but he wasn't wrong.
