I read an interview with Victor Wooten - very cool ideas, as well as being a mondo-talented player.
Victor's camp sounds very interesting. Anybody been?
How was your experience? What did you like/dislike? And what do you feel you left with?

Personally, I didn't care for all the "feelings" that everyone was talking about and nor did i care for the nature part of it however the chance to learn and meet these great players was worth it. |

If you go there expecting to play a ton of bass and hang one on one with victor you will probably not like it. If you want technique buy instructional videos, if you want a rewarding and refreshing journey into music and how it relates to nature (i.e. the natural way of living) and vice versa I would highly recommend it. They really shake up your perception of music, especially as music relates to your senses. It is extremely reasonable price wise and is down right cheap if you drive and sleep in a tent on the campgrounds. I also met a number of cool bass players there who i still keep in touch with.

Camp time is evenly split between nature and bass playing. Some of the nature stuff can be uncomfortable at first, but they are great experiences. The bass classes are in groups of about 10 and are very personal. Victor and Steve are also very approachable throughout the camp, and will answer any questions you have. |

Closest I've been, though, is an elevator ride before a show. Sadly, it was from the parking garage up one floor. I imagine my silly grin wasn't all that memorable for him!
