Anybody seen Victor Wooten on his new tour? It looks like he's just playing with a drummer as a duo. Concert's this Saturday, should be interesting.

Didn't see the concert, but he brought JD to the bass clinic in Coralville, IA with him.
Very cool! A lot of off-the-cuff improv.

Hearing him live really changed my perception of him. I used to think he was a really flashy player, but everything he does fits into the groove. He really is a remarkable musician and person.

Gear snobs. He obviously feels that he can get the tone he needs out of Harke, so why should we worry about it? Im sure he has pretty close to the exact same tone as he did before, he wouldnt just completely change his sound

its not that theyre "jealous." IMO victor is, of course, a champion on the electric bass, but i think sometimes his compulsive speed slapping gets boring and obnoxious. when hes just grooving, thats when he sounds good to me. the flashy stuff is overrated, and i think thats why a lot of pro players dont care as much about victor as most highschool bass players do.

I saw Wooten and Blair last night in Orlando.

It was the Vic at his best. It was alot more than just fast slapping!!!

His kids arent bad performers either.

Jealous....hardly my man....boring is more in the realm of thought,.

Gear snob....no either....listen to the youtube stuff...it sounds like CRAP....my Hartke experience.

I dig his stuff with Bela but saw him with his brothers and I could stomach about 2 minutes worth..

Vic...

I've seen him do solo performances before and i was floored. Pretty sure I'm not the only one who'd entertained watching just him with Jd Blair. He's a beast...

Just went to his clinic in Orlando yesterday. Awesome! Him and JD. I've watched a lot of his videos, but was very impressed with his clinic. I had never been to a bass clinic before. I really learned a lot. He answered everyone's questions and was very informative. He even let a guitar player from the crowd come up and play a jam on a song with him. He was wary of letting someone come up lat first, but he turned it into a learning experience for the audience talking about how you can make something simple one musician is playing sound huge by making the drums and bass come up under it. (if that makes any sense). Sadly I didn't make it to the concert that night, but was glad I went to the clinic.

I saw him in St. Louis a while ago with JD Blair. Great concert. Not to flashy, he just had fun with JD and played a song or two with his kids. Really smooth and not all congested and flashy like some of his recordings, seems like a nice guy too.

I wouldn't judge a bass tone from youtube.

Killin show!

I saw Vic and JD a couple weeks ago. Sweet show. I've seen Vic 4 times and still love him. JD is one of my fave drummers also.
