Victor Wooten Concert last night

heya!
yesterday i had the great chance to see vic in a concert in my city. of course i went there!

maaan.. what can i say? it was just great. i could not believe what was happening there.

he had saundra williams as singer, anthony wellington as second bassist with him, derico watson was playing the drums, reggie was going nuts on the guitar - man he had a 8 minute solo where he played with his teeth and stuff like that, at the end he was imitating the famous james brown dance - last but not least karlton taylor on the keys.

the atmosphere was great. vic is such a gracious guy, he thanked the audience for coming to the show because we make sure that he can do what he loves - which of course is playing music. and man, this guys made jokes! i was cracking

the whole concert was a "groove and technique monster". i cannot describe it in other words. anthony wellington was grooving soo hard when he played the bass-lines to victors solos. derico watson had drum-sticks that made fancy lights and his drum solo was in absolute darkness and he made a light-show with his sticks... unbelieveable

after the show all the guys from the stage came to the audience and had a chat with some of them for about 20 minutes! even though there were very many people victor stayed very patient and signed many many cds, booklets, pick-guards and even complete basses. at the end you could see it was exhausting for him, but he always smiled and stayed friendly... what a guy!
i got one my "show of hands" booklet signed by regi and victor and after chatting with regi a little bit about upcoming gigs in austria / vienna and his crunchies on his neon-orange guitar i had the great pleasure of making a photo of the master himself and me.

all those band members where so kind and so friendly people. it was a great night and i really enjoyed it.

Thats the kind of guy Vic is. It was the same thing when I saw him in NYC last year. A class act all the way!

Vic is the man! His whole band is an inspiration to any musician IMO. He was very nice when I met him in Cincy.

I loved the concert I saw! It was amazing! The way you describe it, sounds like we went to the same concert! Haha. I went a few monthes ago though. Vic's technique is sooo flawless! Reggie had some crazy orange guitar with barbed wire all over it, and starting dancing around and told us he wasnt crazy, but "felt the groove". Best concerts Ive been to... and most civilized!
