I think Vic could funk the house on a "gut bucket" bass if he wanted to.

Is something wrong with my audio, or are those videos' sound channels pinning the needles like mad? All a distorted mess on my system...

Yeah, the audio is pretty hot (as in distortion). But I can still hear Victor pretty clear.

is that even his bass? This looks and sounds like a pick-up jam. Anyone?

no it's not his bass, if you see the following videos, there's another bass player, and he plays good too (but he's not victor but hey, as long as he's grooving)

Proving once again it's the player not the bass.

I'll bet Vic was using someone else's gear... no matter, he's still the man.

Couldn't have said that better myself. (Usually I tend to say it's the band that makes for a better musician.) One guy by himself...well it's all good. (No offense to Victor..he's an awesome bass player and great all around guy). But, being a bass player myself, I can attest to always playing best with a better band.

Best thing to do is to practice, practice, practice...and then find a band that will do the same with you!

I couldn't agree more. I'm lucky with the band I'm in. We always have somekind of unknown built in challenge with the stuff we write that allows us to progress and expand as players. A good band will allow you to become a better player.

Just to fill you guys in I can say that the jazz and the rig are not his. This is shot at a local bar here in nashville and he is playing with his brothers in the video who play there every wednesday. He sits in with them a lot. He never plays more than 3 or 4 tunes and always plays the current players rig and bass. And yes it kicks butt to see him play someone elses rig so nicely.

That solo was a bit long for my liking, I have to say.
