Alright, here's my dillemna. I'm heading down to the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival tomorow, and for those who don't know aobut the festival, or don't know what goes on, other than my school jazz band/choir performing, we get to go to special clinics in our free time. The big problem is that our tiem there is limited to maybe a couple clinics, 3 or 4 at most. the problem is that there are 2 clinics that i really want to go to both but unfortunately they are at the same time
one of the clinics is a master class with victor wooten, that is also hands on.
the other is done by the palouse jazz project entitled "putting together a combo" which in the description says just that.
since all of my jazz combo members are going on the trip as well, they want to go all as one group to the combo class, but as a bassist, i am dying to go get a class with victor wooten, so i was hoping you guys could help me out.
which is more a more valueble asset as a musician? how i see it is that i can get classes on how to put a combo together just about anywhere, from hands on musicians in my community, while a master class with THE victor wooten (there's only one) and this class can help me learn as a bassist, and plus i might only get one chance to learn from this guy in the same room as him.
so i don't know, should i tell my combo-mates to play on without me, or do i miss a once in a lifetime opportunity learn from one of the best. HELP ME FORUM!!! |
