I'm going to see Vic with the Flecktones TONIGHT! Needless to say, I'm pretty excited. It's a holiday tour, so I maybe they'll mix it up with some funky Christmas songs or something... should be pretty interesting. And by interesting I mean totally awesome.

Update: amazing show, as was expected. Vic played a solo medley of five or six different Christmas tunes, mostly tapping, very tasteful. Very interesting arrangements throughout the show of tunes we've all heard a million times--I was surprised they could make "Jingle all the way" and songs like that so captivating! Best part of the show was during one of Vic's more percussive solos the yokel next to me said to his wife, "Sounds like the Seinfeld theme"

I dont quite see what is wrong with a little bass soloing for 3-4 mins in the middle of a 90+ minutes set.

Guitards do it in every song ffs. Drummers get a little go, jazzers get a go, why not bass players...its not like they do it for the whole gig.
