He's got that yin-yang bass after all.
Anyone know about his spiritual beliefs? |

Based on a conversation I had with him after a clinic I would say that he is a spiritual person rather than a religious person.

I don't think he embraces any particular religion, he's just a very spiritual person

Yeah, after going through the entire book, and knowing what I do from interviews/the clinic I attended, etc. I'm erring on the side of 'intensely spiritual'. He's definitely not a Taoist or Christian, just one of those guys that really feels the way the world works, in one way or another. His outlook reminds me of my mother's, so I guess that's why I can pick up on it if not agree totally with it - it's familiar territory. |

He didn't answer anything directly, as per usual. However he did talk about spirit a lot and commented on the fact that people were making somewhat of a big deal about his song I Saw God, even though songs he has done on previous albums spoke about God and his religion, just not directly.
I've noticed this with a lot of musicians. They don't seem to out right talk about their religion. It's very interesting. It wouldn't make a difference to me what religion any musician was so I think they also believe in that and just keep it to themselves.
In regard to the yin-yang on his bass, he's said on a few occasions that he loves the symbol. He's seen it all over the world on pretty much anything possible, surfboards, t-shirts etc. and out of everyone he's spoken to about it, not one has had any type of negative thing to say about it. So he likes the symbol and the balance which it stands for basically. |
