Victor Wootens Bass

I hope this is the right thread for this. I've been trying to figure out what is on Victor Wootens bass, it looks like a hair tie or scrunchie but i tried both those and they dont seem to be it. I was seeing if anybody on here had any ideas what it is.

It is indeed a hair tie....if you do a search you'll find a ton of info on the subject. Basically, its used to keep the open strings from ringing while tapping, etc.
