Hi!

Does anybody know where does he live? My dream is to take a picture with him, I thought it was a good idea to pay him a visit...

Thanks!

Nashville, I believe. His brother lives there, at least, I'm sure you can find him around town. Lots of folks have seen him before/after gigs or at meet n' greets around the world. You won't have to show up at his doorstep to see him, he appears very approachable and kind-hearted - he'd probably just talk to you because you're interested in him.

He does plenty of gigs and clinics. I strongly suggest his clinics. Most I've been to he'll sign stuff and take photos. I don't suggest trying to track him down or show up at his house. He's got a wife and kids and it seems like he gets very little time off.

I know he spends a lot of time in Nashville (not sure if that's where he lives though). I've had the chance to hang out with him a few times. He really is a very nice guy who just loves music and enjoys trying to sharing that love of music with others. One thing I've noticed is that a lot of people begin immediately talking to him about technique. Within 2 minutes he will have answered their question and then turned the conversation away from technique and toward music appreciation. I think his view is that technique is just a tool and everyone has their own set of tools. It's fine to spend time and work on your tools but everyones toolbag is different so don't get hung up envying the other guy's hammer. Just see what tools you've got and then build something. If along the way you want to get some nicer tools that's fine; but you need to be a builder; not a tool collector.

sorry, not meaning to be preachy but I got on a roll.

And by all means, avoid BEING a tool!

OK, that was bad...

Yes, Victor lives just outside of Nashville. He's actually a friend of mine's neighbor. Showing up at an artists house, however... a bad idea.

Vic does lots of clinics & shows. That's probably the smartest way to meet him. He's very friendly, approachable and down to earth. Of course, there's always the bass/nature camps that Vic hosts!

It's not.

It seems as though, everyone is saying the sames things about him ... he's very nice and approachable. However, showing up a his house is the quickest way to change that. Besides, he's a very busy guy ... chances are, he won't even be home.

... the only person you might end up meeting at Vic's house ... is the a local police officer, after a neighbor calls the cops, thinking you are a burglar.

Vic's playing a club show at the Pour House in Charleston SC tonight - our band played there a couple of times - just about a 200 place club, should be cozy!!!

He's hosting an open house at his camp in a couple weeks. You can go there to meet him, or go down anytime before and lend a hand.

Please don't go to his house. Put yourself in his shoes, good guy or not, that's not cool. Check out a show, clinic, or something public.

Does anyone know how he is about meet and greets and stuff before or after shows? I'm going to see his band Saturday and wanna at least meet him, but I'm not sure how good of a chance that is.

He almost always does a meet and greet and seems to really enjoy it. I met him after a Bela Fleck show, and there was a line of about 200 peeps for autographs etc, and he came over as a REALLY nice guy. A 14yr old kid behind me brought his bass to the show and Vic signed the headstock, and even played it for a minute or two - how cool is that. He posed for photos very happily. The show on Saturday is in Florida right? I think its a smaller venue - he played here in Charleston at a 200 place club last night. You will meet him for sure if you want to. Enjoy.

Sounds awesome. Yeah it's in Orlando, Florida. I planned on taking the plain white pickguard off my Precision to get signed. It would be cool to have him sign my bass, but I don't think I'd wanna take it in the venue with me.
