Good book. I bought it last year when I saw him. I'd like to read it again before his show next week. I, unfortunately, lent the copy to a friend who will be out of town until the day after.

Does anyone have an electronic copy I could read? or maybe some other form of help?

I got a pre-sale copy before the book came out, autographed and everything. . .

Victor's great. So inspiring. The book reads a little bit like a kid's story written by a college student, but I'm glad the publisher kept Victor's original style, instead of trying to edit it deeply to make it more "world-class."

The messages are loud and clear, and that's what matters. Glad to see that the book got picked by a bigger publisher.

Ditto. Bought two, one for my next-door neighbor. Might have to steal it back, now....

I thought it was very well-written for the target audience - musicians of all ages and reading comprehension levels. I don't need depth and almost-indecipherable parables or schematics in all of my books, and it was refreshing. Especially as it applies to "speaking music" - I wish more people treated it as a language and less as background noise.

Looks like I'm going to have to put mine in a very safe place... After I see him on Mar 28th, to sign it.

Again.

the only other fodera ive ever touched belonged to the owner of Atl Bass Gallery (hey jim). it played awesome but was quite a bit heavier than wootens. the specific bass i played was the 4 string yinyang bass, which was lighter and played like a monster. there was much higher string action than you would expect but to play was effortless. during Q&A later, wooten said he used fodera strings (.45,.55,.75?,.95) and he preferred nickel over steel because of how it feels on his fingers.

i really want a fodera now, although its very much out of my price range

the best part was him actually instructing me, i played a little something (i'm not of incredible skill) and when i messed up a bit, i went back and replayed the missed noted. he pointed out that was like rewalking steps if you trip. he got me to imagine a band while i was playing, and it really helped out.

some people kept asking about tapping techniques and double thumb plucking, and he gave really simple answers like "just practice and apply it". I think people went there wanting to meet the technical master of the bass when in actuality all they had was one of the best musicians ever. wooten was trying to talk about music, not the bass.

I've also got a short video of him when I can find somewhere to upload it

odd, i also noticed on there what appeared to be a large black rubber band, that he used as a capo/mute, but in reality it was just a woman's hair tie

I just received my book from Amazon. I think this book should be required reading for any bass player, let alone musician. Ive only read to page 30 and already Ive received my money's worth IMO. For only about $10 you can get a great contribution to the improvement of your musicianship.
