Videos of bassists playing Aria Pro

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi, I've got an Aria bass blog going and have started a list of links to videos of various players using Aria basses...I've got 30 or bassists so far, give or take a couple, but I'm looking to find a few more.

There are other players that supposedly played Aria at times (Marcus Miller, Jonas Hellborg, Bob Bogle of The Ventures, etc.) but I haven't found any vids of them yet. Mainly, I'm looking for live performances but promo vids are cool, too.
If anyone has more players, post them here please! I've tried the Talkbass Aria Pro club but thought I'd try the rest of the crew as well.

I think if I knew more Japanese bands the list would grow out of control. But I've found a few and they tend to be very "interesting" as you can see from the ones already on my list.
Thanks in advance...

On that note while the Cliff vids are totally rad, his playing style and of course the insane distortion really outshadow the character of the Aria... so any other videos others can dredge up that showcase the Aria a little more accurately I guess would be welcome

I think Billy Gould used one for Faith No More's The Real Thing which generally has good basslines.

Yeah those two Burton vids were pretty much at the top of my list! I have several Billy Gould vids on my list, too. He did use an Aria Integra for three FNM albums plus tours. The story is that he got it from Cliff...

I've found a lot of vids of players I never knew used Aria...the list keeps growing.

Michael Lachowski of Pylon. Athens GA pre-REM. One of the best bass sounds Ever! (independent lead bass lines too)
"Crazy" and "M-Train" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPvknVx-J5k (M-Train was an underground hit in the 80s. long bass intro!)
"Danger" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y1074...eature=related
"Crazy" Live in 2008 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c95OZ...eature=related
"M-Train Live http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OAm6b...eature=related
The "Pogo" was the official dance move, the natural reaction to Pylon's beat. VEry sadly, their guitarist died last year

BassBrass, thanks a lot for those clips! Great stuff! I will definitely had him to the list. It looks like an older model (1980 or before) SB-1000, finish all black which seems to be pretty rare.

My pleasure! Micheal's bass sound and independent line concept was very influential to me at the time (never really wanting to play the bottom of some guitar's power chords...)
I guess for many people, Pylon is obscure, but I went to their late 90s reunion show (some club on Landsdown st. Boston) and it was Packed and everybody knew the words. They were really appreciated. In the late 80s the East Coast college circuit and radio was very Pylon loving.
I remember seeing adds in Bass Player mag. for that bass. Not cheap.

I updated the blog, thanks again those were great links. He's been rocking that bass for quite some time! I haven't seen many Arias like that one...I can't tell if it's an SB-1000 or maybe an SB-700/600 because it looks like the conrols are quite simple (vol, tone, coil tap switch)....

Anyone else have more Aria bass links not already on my list? Someone recently tipped me off to The Fixx's bassist using an SB-1000 on the "Red Skies" video.

SB-600 or 700 by the look of it.

Pete.

Here's some Steven Bailey on his Aria. Hope you don't mind a little Wooten with him.

I remember seeing pictures of John Dalton from the Kinks playing an Aria in the '80s, dunno if there's any video around.

Winston, thanks a lot! I found a video of the Kinks playing "Destroyer" and John Dalton appears to have an SB-1000!
