| "The Wayman Tisdale Story" Alright everyone...
I know i'm really late to the party, but over the Holidays my wife & I were able to catch The Wayman Tisdale Story on ESPN. I knew it had been out for some time, but did'nt get the chance before.
We've always been into good music, mostly Rock, but can always spot talent a mile away. We of course heared a lot of his music here and there in the past on the radio and I knew of him from the NBA, but never really took a close look into him musically. We were both extremely impressed with Wayman's graciousness, humility, candor and positivity toward all he faced in life. We was truly gifted as a basketball player and musician and a fine human being.
I did not know he played a right-handed strung bass lefty!
It looked so cool when he was playing. He could not read or tell you what any of the notes were or explain any theory.
He just felt every thing he played.
He had great feel, wonderful sense of melody and one of the sweetest tones i've ever heared.
There were interviews with several of his family members & peers. My wife's funny. She asked me "who's that?" That's Michael Jordan, and thats Marcus Miller... she doesnt know them.
Of course we knew how his story ended, and were sad.
He was a major talent and would have been a great friend to have had. Now we need to go out and pick up all his records.
Wayman will be missed.. |
