I was recently on Will Lee's site and was just curious of some of the gigs that he is doing at the moment and notice that there was a benefit for Wayne Pedzwater... And I thought
"what for?"
Did a search and this is what I found on Tara Angel's site...

Many of you know Wayne Pedzwater. For those who don’t, Wayne’s a great bass player and a great guy, and he’s been a staple of the New York music scene for 20+ years. The picture of health and fitness, Wayne was diagnosed several years ago with stomach cancer. He suffered -rather privately- for the last few years, with operations and chemo, etc. With his stomach removed, and then some, it looked like he’d beat the odds and actually licked the cancer. He was back to biking 20 miles a day, etc.
Then Wayne was suddenly diagnosed with cancer of the larynx. At 47 years old, he is now in Stage 4. He has a feeding tube 18 hours a day, is down to 130 pounds, and is in dire health. His situation is critical.
Equally critical is his financial situation. His health insurance has been long gone, and his wife’s is about to expire. They’re broke and in deep debt; They are in an awful situation. And now they are open – both emotionally and financially - to the help that a larger community can offer.
In an effort to energize their assistance, there is now the “Wayne Pedzwater Fund”. This was set up through local 802’s Emergency Relief Fund. All the proceeds designated to Wayne will go to helping Wayne and Patty’s financial situation.
To make a tax-deductible contribution:
Write a check made out to:
“Emergency Relief Fund”.
ON THE MEMO LINE, WRITE: “Wayne Pedzwater Fund.”

I wasn't sure if there was a thread about his ailment out there, I did a search on TB but yielded nothing... I hope that we can all help Wayne and his wife this season. Wayne is one of the hardest working bassists in the NYC area, do a search you'd be very surprised at who he has played for and what recordings you might already have of his playing.
