Went to see Dafnis Prieto sextet with Charles Flores yesterday

It was one of the most amazing concerts I've been to; Charles Flores and Dafnis Prieto are the new rhythym section in Michel Camilo trio and hearing them just made sense why Michel would change Anthony Jackson (who is one of my favourite bass players) and Horacio Hernandez. While Prieto is definitely the flare of this group, it is Flores who really holds the group together groove-wise imo. Their playing was so intense I found myself open-mouthed a couple of times and I don't remember hearing anyone making so many different sounds out of the drumset as Dafnis Prieto does. Flores used a baby bass (can't really tell which brand it was since I was seating in the back) and sounded phenomenal throughout the gig.
The group features a great brass line (Roman Filiu, El Indio and Peter Apfelbaum) and Manuel Valera on the piano. They played a couple of songs as a trio with piano and I could only imagine how great they must sound with Michel Camilo.
I recommend checking them out if you haven't!
