Lemmy doesn't play bass - he just plays very muddy, rhythm guitar !!

+1!

I know it's unfair but I have heard opinions voiced before that he is unworthy of that Rickenbacker....

Lemmy doesn't play bass...those cocoa puffs on his face do.

Anyone who put in the time in a relationship with Wendy O. deserves whatever bass they want for doing time.

No, no, no...

The correct answer is "whatever the $^*&^" he wants.

I'm actually surprised that he outlived Wendy O Williams.

Come on guys, Lemmy is a metal god. He can play whatever the hell he wants, lol. Hell, if he wanted to slam "Ace of Spades" on a Fodera, I'd support him. I love Lemmy, and love Motorhead!!

I'm not dissing Lemmy or Motorhead. I dig 'em lots. In fact, I've seen them several times and have a big love for both No Sleep till Hammersmith and No Sleep at All...

Well, to be fair, he says so himself! In the liner notes to "Everything Louder Than Everyone Else". I don't have it handy to give an exact quote, but he actually uses almost the same words: "I don't really play bass, I play crude guitar parts on a bass". (paraphrased)

...While looking for that pic of him holding the bass, I ran across an interview in which he said he doesn't write songs with minor chords (much) "because you can't play minors on a bass". !!!

P.S. I totally dig Motorhead, but that doesn't exempt them from a good poking-at.

That would be me! My 4004LK is a great playing/sounding Ric. It is by far my favorite bass.

Isn't another ingredient in Lemmy's tone the 100 watt Marshall guitar amps he plays his Rickenbacker through?

Lemmy doesn't play bass. He gets Chuck Norris to hide behind the amps and sing the low notes.
