| | Registered User | | Join Date: Mar 2006 Location: Brussels | | | maybe this comes a bit like a shock to you guys, but i don't really listen to bassists. of course when the bassist does something cool i'll notice it. but i'm not really a fan of this whole bass solo idea. just to clarify, i do know who jaco and stanley are, i actually own a couple of their albums, but hardly listen to them. jaco is cool though cos he can also write nice songs and portait of tracey is just a beautyfull piece of music. he is the only bass virtuoso that i listen to and really like.
i'd much rather listen to a pink floyd album, even though the basslines are mostly quite simple, but the songs are amazing.
so with this logic, my bass gods are roger waters; walter becker, sting, john paul jones, flea and michael porcaro. oh i forgot, i think stuart hamm is cool. there was this vid floating around here of him playing a solo during a satriani show. the intro and the moonshine sonata are really impressive, very nice and tasty playing. do i idolize him though? hm; no. |
