Get a long hair wig, some pants that look like they were once part of a wet suit and an Iron Maiden T-shirt and you're Steve Harris...make sure you're playing a P Bass though.

How painfully true. My wife once brought one of her male co workers to see a band I was in. She told him I was the bass player and he said, "Oh really? Now, which one is the bass player again?" I'll bet I've heard that same question asked a dozen times at gigs. "Bass is different from guitar then?" That another one of my favorites. Yeah, investing in all that expensive gear and years worth of practice and lessons and most of the people you play for have no idea what you do. Kind of depressing actually. But it sure explains most of the crap that passes for music these days.

What about Tom Wolk, or Duck Dunn, or Kip Winger... Then there is aways Jaco. Maybe Peter Cetera? When you say the bass player dress like Gene, does he do the make-up or not? You could do the other...

Go as Derek Smalls from This Is Spinal Tap.

Everyone will guess and talk, you'll look the part, and the REAL fans will know. Great recipe.

Yeah I passed several of these by the guy in the band I am working with and sadly he is right most people will never know most of the players that have been mentioned on this thread. Looks like I am going as Sir Paul McCartney the British Invasion version. I already have the suit and tie all I need is the wig. Cheap\easy and some what comfortable. I sure hope most people will at least get it that I am a Beatle or some sort of British invasion guy.. Thanks for all the great ideas..

How about the bud from Slipknot? Too extreme maybe? He does look cool, like a Jason Voorhees as a bass player.

Yeah, or how about that bassist chick from the all-female punk band Civet? She's very hot.
