What Bass Rig?

Sitting here listening to Venom recorded live at Hammersmith Odeon in 1985

here is the question...

Cronos the bass player has an amazing sound I have figured out that he is playing through Acoustic 220/230 Bass Amps, but any of you hard core TB'ers know what else he is using to achieve his sound? effects etc.

I tried looking around on the net but could find nothing except that he is currently endorsed by Peavey and Fender

Anybody?

I loved Venom back in the day, but I don't think they were ever accused of being very "musical" so it's hard to deduce what kind of gear they used to achieve that fabulous noise. I just know that Cronos used to play some sort of Aria bass back in the day.

I'm pretty sure he would use a bass that was fretted up to the 12th fret and fretless beyond that. He did a lot of slides in the upper fretboard that sounded pretty wicked.
