Probably gonna get so much crap for this.. Pete Wentz. This was back in 5th grade when i had no clue about music. I just thought it looked so cool and sounded cool. As I got older it was Mark Hoppus, which I have respect for still. And the bassists that inspire me to get better are Marcus Miller, Johnny Christ, and still Mark Hoppus. |

Ever since then I wanted to be a bass player. I didn't actually start playing for another year or so, but I will never forget it.

As soon as i heard the nirvana sound, i finally heard through my ears what what is in my head for years.
Very underated as well, perfect example of playing to the songs needs instead of your own.

One night, the other guitarist said that every time I did a fill it sounded like a bass line. The next day, I started playing around with different fills and realized that he was right. My fills were based on bass lines. I decided to buy a bass. It came very naturally to me. I still play guitar and also taught myself keys. My favorite bassists are:
Paul McCartney
James Jamerson
John Entwistle
Jack Bruce
Geezer Butler
John Paul Jones
Mel Schacher
John Deacon
Craig MacGregor
Bruce Hall
Marcus Miller
Phil Lynott

| | | | Inspiration to play bass. +1 I agree with all the bass players cited by Rockmusician and his story. I was 16 when I started in 1966. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
