Allen Wentz, actually had the pleasure to meet him because he shops at the store I work. I never mentioned that it was his song that got me turned on to bass

John Paul Jones - The first albumn I owned was Led Zeppelin II (vinyl). Lemon Song just blew me away. I was hooked. I didn't start playing bass for quite a few years but when I did, I definitely remembered JPJ.

Jack Bruce and Chris Squire initially. They were "the men" in my day. Then several others along the way Jamerson for sure. I started playing in 1967 what a GREAT ERA for music. Also loved Barry Oakley.

I still remember the moment:

I had just purchased Queen's A Day at the Races LP (dating myself). Opened it up and saw the picture - loved John's P Bass. Then after hearing Long Away (not Queens best song, but very big bass line) I was sold.

Brian Ritchie of the Violent Femmes singlehandedly got me into playing bass.

Geddy Lee was my first inspiration, followed soon after by Chris squire and then later, Steve Harris & Cliff Burton.. The list goes on and on. Somewhere not far into the Steve Harris Cliff Burton part of things, I had solidified my own style enough that I started spending my time on my own riffs and playing. Those guys Especially Geddy will always be a part of what ended up being my style.

I was 16 ten years later (1976). Don't know where the time went.

Not famous (and more influential than either of the other two): Aaron Gough
