What is Christian McBride doing at 1:05?

This clip came up on one of the other forums. I haven't heard much of McBride's electric work but I'm really digging it. So in the following clip he plays a quick chromatic octave line at 1:05, and I can't quite execute it. Does anyone have any advice?

That track flat kills! And, I hadn't seen the video yet.

Here's my guess:

F# - Open Hammer Octave
G# - Open Hammer Root Octave
A - Open Hammer Root Octave

Code:
-------------------------------
----4-----6-----7--------------
-------------------------------
0-2---0-4---0-5----------------
Please excuse my lame-o tab attempt.

That Christian ain't no slouch.

In Montana they have signs over bars that say,"Before engaging your mouth, make sure your mind is in gear!"

He's coming to Sculler's in March. You can ask him then!

Here's what I did with right hand fingering:
Code:
-------------------------------
----4-----6-----7--------------
-------------------------------
0-2---0-4---0-5----------------
1 H 2 1 H 2 1 H 2
1 - Index Finger
2 - Middle Finger
H - Hammer On (Left Hand Only)

Christian might be enough of a ninja to do it without hammer-ons, but it's a lot easier for me.

Thanks Aarix. The hammer-ons from the open E may be the key. I'm getting close using thumb and finger to pick, but I'll have to play more tomorrow at a more reasonable hour.

I saw Christian with Pat Metheny this summer in Annapolis, MD. He played upright for the whole concert, but played electric on the encore..he blew me away on both instruments. I love his playing and I love that video!!

it sounds more chromatic than diatonic to me...a combination of chromaticism and octaves? Like for example, the 4th note in the sequence being G instead of E (3 instead of 0 on the whatever that picture thingy is)

His intonation even at blazing fast tempos is ridiculous.

Totally. At times it sounds like he's playing a fretted bass. His articulation is incredible as well.
