What do y'all think about Mark Hoppus?

No, Mark is not one of the best bassists nor does have that many complex bass-lines; but he does put a good sound to Blink 182, also he sings at the same time which is not the easiest thing to do.

So what's your opinion on Mark?

He's basic but the song carousel opened up a whole new world of bass for me- I had been playing bass for a month at most, generally listening to punk basslines (which pretty much stick to the root note) and I was like 'woah, that's a bass?' changed my life

He's a bass player playing simple lines for simple music and he rocks. Plays what's right for the music and has a good Fender sound which is exactly what he's going for. Other than Blink 182, I have no idea what he's capable of and it really doesn't matter to me.

It changed the way I viewed bass-playing also! Been playing about a year

I think I admire him because of who he is, he's super funny and a good frontman, not for how he plays. Also I think his signature bass is my favourite bass ever, because I love jazz bass shape and Precision bass sound.

I'm not really into blink right now,I still like it, but I used to like it a lot more when I was younger.

Resume: Cool guy, cool bass, just a regular bass player.

Pretty simple, yet he does it very well. And I agree to sing and play is not something everyone can do, he does it very well as well. I'm really looking forward to the new Blink album.

I heard "Up All Night" and I didn't like it. It isn't bad, but I hope the rest of their songs sound like their older stuff

I hear ya and it is a little different (kind of like a mix between Box Car Racer and Angels and Airwaves if you ask me), but as much as I want to hear the old sound as well, and who knows maybe the album will revisit those roots, however I think it's just Blink maturing and adapting like most bands do when they get older, members start families, get off drugs, etc. It happens.

-I have heard the BCR/AVA 'mix' comment a lot. And they do sound like a mix.
-Any good fan of them knows they have matured. It's not a bad thing either, they had the high point in their careers already. I think their new stuff may be more complex then their older stuff.

Takes a very brave man to come on here and ask for opinions.
