If I see the crowd getting less interested, I try to make the groove funkier so they have no choice but to start dancing. I know I should probably have a better stage presence, but I feel my primary job is to set the foundation to the music, and showboat is secondary. |

In that case, it depends on the music. If it's something smooth and slow, I just tap my foot, close my eyes and get into it. If it's something fast or heavy i could be anywhere. I do not jump though. I can't keep track of my hands when I jump. |

| | gone to Longstanton Spice Museum | | Join Date: Feb 2003 Location: UK | | | I try to be just a slightly higher energy level than the audience... in fact the whole band does... it's weird if you see a band playing as if they're rocking a 50,000 seater Enormo-Dome, giving it massive rock 'shapes', to an audience of 5 bored-looking people... it's incongruent and looks like choreography rather than spontaneous 'getting into it'
so we move about a little, and when the crowd warm up and jump around too, we turn it up a notch... and see how crazy we can make the crowd... you don't need much in the way of aerobics as long as you're moving about and people can see you're into it.. there's nothing worse than seeing a stage full of bored looking musicians.. John Entwistle only got away with it because he was in a band with 3 OTT showmen
