What do you use Live

Sign in to disble this ad
Ok so I noticed lots of bassists in here have alot of gear, so this thread is to put your main bass and backups and what amp you use, if you have backups also, and effects and all those good toys you use live, I REPEAT: live.... so go...

There are Bass and Amp sections for this type of stuff. Would be better placed there.

I say this is the right place, simply because he's asking the question of Bassists and it can be 1 thread...

in my current band: the last two shows, i used a bongo HH. the show before that, i used a squier P/J with emg's and a carlo robelli 8-string. the show before that i used my geddy lee jazz through my acoustic 370 head/106 cab. i think the last two shows before that i used my highway one P. with the exception of the show i played through the acoustic rig, usually play through an SWR workingman's 300 and goliath III cab. when i use any basses but the bongo, i usually run a fulltone bass drive.

It would be better in the miscelanious since it deals with basses and amps.

Anyway my setup is my sterling and my mpulse 600 and mark bass 4x10 and 1x15. I have no back ups for anything apart from a set of strings.

I keep it simple:
EBMM Stingray (with Bartolini pup and Aggie pre)
Boss TU-2 Tuner Pedal
Radial Pro DI
Markbass LMK (2 channel)
Patterson Audio 2x10.

Yesterday I used my new (to me) 1976 P-bass with flats. It was a blues/funk gig so I thought the old school tone would work well. I may have to bring this bass out more often!

My bass can change depending on set list, however the Peavey TL-Five I've owned since the late 80s is usually 1st choice.
I plug into the DI and use IEM's.

These days I mostly use my Rob Allen MB2, Mouse 30 and Conklin fretless 6. I run these through an Ampeg SVT4Pro bi-amped to a 4x10 and 15". I also have a Korg DTR-1000 tuner.

Sadly, when i gig i leave all my cool toys and fx at the studio..
only thing i really use Live these days is my 2-String Washtub Bass and Goldtone Bass Banjo both run into a Radial I/O selector (love for the buffered 2nd input) -> Aphex Bass Xciter -> SansAmp BDDI -> PA, and a tuner hung off the tuner output of the I/O. nice and simple!

I at most only bring two basses my 78 P-Bass and my Geddy Lee J these days and
sometimes my fretless J if needed. My amp rigs meet the needs of the gig as I don't
like hauling anymore than I have to. I also keep my amps in top shape and I pack tools
and fuses etc in my gig bag. In a worst case scenario I can go into the p.a. with my
Sansamp Bass Driver D.I. box.

I really don't bring a lot as the two guitarists' in the band like to bring a mini guitar
show to every gig it seems. Somtimes I feel like I'm at a G.C. display floor!
The drummer and I have to fight for the rest of the stage; but thank goodness both
guitarists are favoring smaller tube combo amps these days.

Me personally well my Ampeg SVT Classic and 8X10 plus my G&L and had my ernieball as backup but now i have a Fender and i have not flashit live., I still consider my G&L as my main bass handsdown , I also take cables, my trusty flashlight, extra batteries, extra strings, Extra electrical connections and ahhmm electrical tape cloth to wipe one for my basses and one for me lol and well cigarrettess(Damm smoker) and my trusty allen wrenches and screwdrivers, i think that is it maybe im missing something but cant come to mind....

I use a '92 Fender Precision and a Fender amp. The amp feeds the mixing console. I use the amp for my stage monitor.

Simple!

Music Man Sterling 4 fretted,Sterling 4 fretless,Sterling 5,Thunderfunk 550,then into an Avatar neo 410 cab.No effects.Been using that combination for about 2 years, and haven't felt the need to look at anything else. It just gets the job done.
